A PR and media professional with over 18 years experience, Mimi is the Managing Director of Africommunications Group (ACG), a pan-African PR and communications agency serving global accounts.
Mimi recently made the prestigious list of 25 individuals selected for the 2017 Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellowship programme, which aims to develop Africa’s next generation of leaders in all sectors of society: “I am very humbled to have been chosen from hundreds of highly qualified young African leaders who are taking concrete steps to transform Africa in their sectors. It takes all of us to make a difference. I look forward to the program. In the end, being selected is very exciting but it is how one translates the opportunity into tangible change for the continent that counts.”
As an advocate of the African continent and its growth, Mimi regularly writes and speaks about how shaping Africa’s narrative positively is vital for the continent to fulfill its potential. She recently wrote an ebook called “Talking to Africa”, which reviews how understanding the cultural dynamics of four major African markets (Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Africa) can lead to the development and more successful implementation of communications strategies that are results-driven. Mimi also sits on the Africa Brand Counsel and was nominated for the Women4Africa Awards 2016 as a finalist for the International African Woman of the Year Award.
The best business advice Mimi’s been given that she’d like to pass on?
“Nothing happens until you decide. Making a decision may be difficult but once you have, you should go for it with no regrets or hesitation, only stopping from time to time to evaluate progress and adjust where necessary. And while passion and talent are important for a business, it cannot survive on this alone! There are administrative processes that you learn along the way, which are indispensable to the success of any enterprise.”
