France 4-1 Ghana – U-20 Women’s World Cup 2018 opener

It was a poor start for Ghana at the 2018 Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup following a 4-1 defeat to hosts France on Sunday.

Sandra Owusu-Ansah registered the Black Princesses’ only goal after Emelyne Laurent’s double and Helene Fercocq’s strike gave Les Bleuettes a three-goal lead, before Sandy Baltimore struck in stoppage time to condemn the West Africans at Stade de la Rabine in Vannes.

With the Netherlands beating New Zealand 2-1 in the other group game, Ghana have been forced bottom of Group A ahead of their next match on Wednesday.
